Born and raised in Queens, the native New Yorker has devoted the majority of her life to music education and music performance. As an educator, Kristy has held many positions, including choir director, music director for musical theater, as well as the head of the music department at Edward Bleeker JHS. Throughout her time as an educator, she has also worked in various capacities with Carnegie Hall, served as the music coordinator and liaison to Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Connect program, and is currently the principal conductor to NYC’s All-City High School Chorus and choral director of Brooklyn High School of the Arts.

Having dedicated almost 20 years to teaching, Kristy’s drive stems from her passion to implement innovative student-driven projects and performances as she guides young musicians into becoming well-rounded artists. Being able to help musicians make connections with themselves and the world around them through the arts has always been at the core of Kristy’s pedagogy. Culture, joy, creativity, community, and agency are key ingredients that help spark her student’s curiosity for learning, and providing space for students to develop their artistry is just as important as it is for her students to be good singers.
